Andrea is the Fleet Risk Manager for the Waikato - Bay of Plenty – Gisborne areas. She works alongside transport operators to help them identify how to reduce their fleet risk. Andrea has worked in the road transport industry for over 20 years with Castrol and Mobil, where she focused on preventative maintenance for vehicles and equipment. As a Fleet Fit Manager that focus is now about preventative measures to support professional drivers working for NZI customers.
After an accident, you want to know that everything is done right within the best possible timeframe. NZI’s Repair Managers are here to make sure that repairs are dealt with quickly and to the highest standard.
Our team can help you with any number and any size of vehicle, whether you’re operating construction, earthmoving or farm machinery.
Our Repair Managers are all highly qualified in mechanical and technical repairs and have experience in commercial fleet operation. They ensure that all repairs are carried out according to legislative requirements, and that only quality parts are used, within agreed time frames and at reasonable rates.

Andrew has 20 years' experience in the automotive repair industry. His career started with an automotive apprenticeship and he then moved into parts, then sales. After this he moved back into service roles, spending five years as a Service Manager agricultural machinery and construction equipment area as a Service Manager. Andrew joined NZI in 2018.

Matt came to NZI in 2018 with 8 years’ experience in the heavy transport area. He started his automotive career in Tauranga with CAL Isuzu in 2010 as a parts specialist and moved to Auckland in 2012. He enjoyed the change of location and sector to Commercial Diesel in Warkworth, especially the more varied role spanning motor homes to earthmoving equipment.

Peter joined the team in 2017 bringing with him significant experience in the automotive repair industry, ranging from light automotive, alternative fuel conversions, heavy automotive, road transport, engineering, quarrying and fuel distribution.
Peter’s career began with a light motor apprenticeship. He has held a range of roles in the transport sector from local body service repairs and large diesel LPG, CNG and Methanol conversions to internal fleet management, lease company asset management, as well as 17 years in management for one of the largest branches of New Zealand’s only solely owned service and repair networks.

Lawrie had 12 years in the panel beating industry before joining NZI as a Repair Manager.
While working in a rural region, he gained experience in assessing farm implements and heavy machinery. In 2012 Lawrie moved to a private company, taking up the roll of Motor Manager and returning to all aspects of assessing including heavy motor, machinery breakdown, and ship surveying.

Marty, a highly skilled assessor, has been an invaluable member of the NZI team since 2016. With over 20 years of experience in the panel-beating industry in Europe and New Zealand, he brings a wealth of knowledge in technical repair and management. Marty’s expertise in car repairs has been a significant asset to the team. He is a versatile team member, having also worked on trucks and tractors over the years.

Ken joined the Commercial Motor Repair team at NZI with 37 years of experience in heavy motor and civil construction industries.
His career began as a truck and plant mechanic covering everything from small compactors to large heavy earthmovers. He spent many years as a heavy-vehicle accident inspector for the Ministry of Transport.
He has worked as a fleet manager for large civil construction fleets as well as a large South Island fleet of refrigerated trucks and trailers.

A qualified collision repair technician, Curtis has worked in the collision repair industry for more than 20 years. He joined the Lumley Light Motor Vehicle team in 2010 before taking a role with one of Australia’s largest insurance companies. Curtis returned to New Zealand in 2013 taking on a role as a Motor Vehicle Loss Adjuster with Crawford & Company New Zealand which included light motor vehicle, farm machinery, agricultural equipment and heavy motor claims before joining NZI as Repair Manager in 2016.

Craig joined NZI in 2017 and has over 20 years experience in the panel beating industry. In 2002, Craig entered the insurance industry and for the last 15 years has managed light motor, heavy motor, engineering and machinery claims.
Craig is trade certified in panel beating, I-CAR Silver Certified and is an ANZIIF (Assoc).

With more than 40 years of experience in vehicle repair, Shaun is an expert in trucks, forestry, and agricultural equipment. Shaun started his career in mechanical repair and fabrication, followed by fleet maintenance in Europe, moving into technician work for truck and forestry equipment in New Zealand. He’s also worked in service management for one of the largest truck repairers in the country as well as a large tractor manufacturer. In 2021, Shaun joined our team at NZI as an assessor, where his unique and extensive knowledge is highly valued.

Ulrich started out as a qualified panel beater and estimator and has held various specialist assessing and training roles throughout his career. He’s experienced in managing complex claims, assisting in policy cover interpretation, and has contributed to the development of a 3-year diploma for vehicle assessors. While his work has mostly been commercial, he has a special interest in agriculture, which prompted him to move to New Zealand in 2019 and buy a farm. Ulrich joined the NZI team in 2024 and his experience has been put to good use.

Henk has been in the vehicle repair industry for over 35 years. He started his career as a qualified diesel mechanic, later acquiring his own panel beating shop and fuel station, before finding his passion in the insurance industry. Over the past 20 years Henk has worked in a variety of roles, including Head of Assessing and Procurement for a South African Insurance company, where he gained in-depth understanding of insurance products, claims and assessments. Henk joined the NZI team in 2021 as a Heavy Commercial Vehicle assessor, dedicated to helping our customers get back on the road with confidence.

Jim has over 38 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic. He started in agriculture before shifting his focus to heavy vehicles. Working for a large UK truck manufacturer, he held both technical support and training roles. In 2006, he relocated to New Zealand, where he worked at Truckstops in Palmerston North, advancing to a national technical support and training position. Jim joined NZI in 2018 as a Commercial Motor Assessor, where we highly value his expert knowledge of heavy vehicles.
